St Johns Wort Oil

from $18.00

Whether you're making your own salve or using the oil directly on your skin, this infused oil is handcrafted with organic St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) and organic extra virgin olive and coconut oils.

Making a salve? Use 1 cup (8 oz) of this infused oil per 1 oz beeswax and 1 oz shea butter (if using) as a general starting ratio.

St. John's Wort has a long history in traditional and folk medicine, used topically since ancient Greece. Named for St. John the Baptist, as it blooms around his feast day in late June, the herb is valued for its hypericin and hyperforin content. Cherokee tradition holds that it was used on bruises and burns, a practice later shared with early colonists.

For external use only.
Important: St. John's Wort may increase skin sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity). Avoid sun exposure on treated areas, or use sun protection. Do not apply to large areas of skin if you are taking St. John's Wort internally or any medication that causes photosensitivity. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
